Gran Turismo 6 One-Make Races

John B. Marine | 10:35 PM | |
Gran Turismo 6 has One-Make Races you can unlock and take part in. These races will test your racing ability, granted you have the correct car. Having the same car means it comes down to the driver as to who will win. You wish your lucky stars it's you who wins the race. I'm here in this blog post to feature the One-Make Races of Gran Turismo 6. Welcome to "John's Race Space!"

About the Label: "One-Make Races"

Posts under this Label are all about the One-Make Races of Gran Turismo titles. Rather than a collection of cars all racing at once, these events are more about a collective gathering of a certain vehicle racing against itself or different variations of the same vehicle.

Gran Turismmo 6: One-Make Races at a Glance

Gran Turismo 6 One-Make Races
^ When the cars are of the same and from the same make, who claims victory in a race comes down to the driver!

One-Make Races are nothing new in the Gran Turismo realm. In fact, it was Gran Turismo 2 in which this style of racing made its debut. One-Make Races are races specifically for a certain car. Some One-Make Races can allow for the player to choose between any model of the car that fits regulations. For example, a One-Make Race involving the Mazda Miata/MX-5 may allow for the player to choose between any model of the Miata/MX-5 to compete in the event. So you may choose the ND-model Miata to compete against older or younger versions of the car. In some cases, a One-Make Race may even allow for either normal variants of a specific car or racing variants of that car.

The one thing you want to be mindful of is to pick a certain car and then worry about if any level of tuning is allowed. If there are no restrictions, you can almost basically max out your car and get an easy win. Gran Turismo 6, however, doesn't allow for too much liberties. You have to keep your car within the Performance Points (PP) limit. The safe thing you can do is upgrade certain specifications that do not affect PP, such as suspension and transmission options. Most of what will affect PP is with modifications to horsepower or weight. You will need to dial in ballast or tone down the horsepower if you are over the PP limit.

Since these are a set of races involving a specific car, what you may want to do is purchase some of these vehicles early so you can race them in the respective One-Make Races. If you need to enhance the performance of each required car, do so within the PP regulations. Every One-Make Race requires Sports tires except for the International A One-Make Races, where you can use Racing tires.

This will be a single post featuring all of the One-Make Races in Gran Turismo 6. You will need to unlock these events through earning Stars in each level of racing that has One-Make Races. There are no One-Make Races in Novice, Super levels, or the Red Bull X Challenge. You can not earn any Stars for success in these One-Make Races. Therefore, these are mostly side races you can take part in to earn more Credits.

Gran Turismo 6: One-Make Races

This is the main section regarding One-Make Races. The material in parentheses () represents the level in which the One-Make Race is raced under.

Prius Cup (B).

PP: 400 or less
Tires: Sports Hard or Less
Car(s): 2009 Prius G, 2003 Toyota PRIUS G Touring Selection (J), 2002 Toyota PRIUS G (J), ???? Toyota PRIUS Touring Car

A Toyota Prius is not going to make you the coolest person in car discussions. The Toyota Prius is the world's most well-known hybrid car. The Prius debuted in Gran Turismo 2. The ones you'll be using are of the modern Prius. So prepare yourself to take on this One-Make Race challenge around England's Silverstone Circuit. Only here, you will be racing the National circuit. Victory shouldn't be too hard to come by. If you really want to make a statement, invest in the Prius Touring Car.

Prize:
GOLD: 7,390 Cr.
SILVER: 4,810 Cr.
BRONZE: 3,700 Cr.

86 vs. BRZ Festival (B).

Track: Fuji Speedway F

Car(s): 2012 Toyota 86 GT, 2012 86 GT 15 Anniv., 2012 Subaru BRZ S, 2012 Scion FR-S, 2013 Toyota 86 "Racing"

In the late 2000s and early 2010s, a joint effort between Toyota and Subaru led to the creation of an affordable sports car with a boxer (or horizontally-opposed) engine. That creation came in three forms- the Toyota 86, the Scion FR-S, and the Subaru BR-Z. Whichever one tickles your fancy, you will be racing this modern boxer sports car around the modern Fuji Speedway. You can choose any model of this car that is within regulations. Though, if you want to be the safest, you may want to bring the 2013 Toyota 86 "Racing" to this One-Make event.

Prize:

BRONZE: 3,670 Cr.

BMW 1 Series Race Meeting (A).

Car(s): 2007 BMW 135i Coupé, 2004 BMW 120d, 2004 BMW 120i, 2007 BMW Concept 1 Series tii

The BMW 1 Series is the entry level series of automobiles from BMW. The 1 Series debuted in 2004. These days, unfortunately, the new entry level BMW series is the 2 Series. What you will be racing here are 1 Series BMWs around the Grand Prix configuration of the Nürburgring. These cars handle well and are not too powerful. So you should be able to win this One-Make Race without fearing the cars snapping on you at any given moment.

Prize:
GOLD: 22,700 Cr.
SILVER: 14,800 Cr.
BRONZE: 11,300 Cr.

Civic Sprint (A).

The Honda Civic has long been an amazing economy car with some sporty performance. A lot of people were awed of it being a tuner favorite, especially among "The Fast and the Furious." Honda Civic tuners are usually a dime a dozen. In this One-Make Race, you wlll be racing the Honda Civic around the Suzuka Circuit.

Roadster Touring Car

You either love or loathe the Mazda Miata/MX-5. A lot of people do because it's slow and "girly." I say it is still one of the most affordable sports cars you can buy. It won't cost you an arm and a leg to own and enjoy one of these cars. What you WILL need to do, though, is take one of these machines around the tight and short confines of Tsukuba Circuit. This is nothing new if you are a Gran Turismo veteran to race Miatas/MX-5s around Tsukuba, because you've been doing it since Gran Turismo 4 around this track. Complete eight laps around this course in your Mazda Miata/MX-5. Try to go for the win!

Prize:
GOLD: 21,110 Cr.
SILVER: 13,700 Cr.
BRONZE: 10,500 Cr.

Elise Trophy (IB).

"Light makes might." The modern embodiment of what Colin Chapman propsed to the automotive world is done so today with the Lotus Elise. You will have the honor of racing these lightweight sports cars around the historic Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. Bear in mind that the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit packs a lot of race track in such minimal space. The corners can be quite tricky. While the Elise is no ferocious beast of a sports car, you still need to keep your lightweight Elise between the white lines as much as you can. Now do Lotus proud by winning this one.

Prize:
GOLD: 41,000 Cr.
SILVER: 26,600 Cr.
BRONZE: 20,500 Cr.

Corvette Festival (IB).

America's sports car is the Chevrolet Corvette. You will be racing a Corvette against Corvettes around Southern California's Willow Springs International Raceway. You are actually about an hour's drive north of Los Angeles with a track that seems like it is in the middle of nowhere. This track will surprise you if you take its challenge lightly. Put forth a solid drive in whatever Corvette you choose to race in this race meeting.

Prize:
GOLD: 45,300 Cr.
SILVER: 29,400 Cr.
BRONZE: 22,700 Cr.

Dance With the Aventadors (IA).

Track: Circuito de Madrid
Laps: 5

PP: 610 or less
Tires: Racing Hard or less
Car(s): 2011 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

How fitting- Running of the Bulls in Spain... only these bulls are fierce Lamborghini Aventadors roaming the streets of Madrid, Spain! This is the only One-Make Race that happens on a temporary street circuit. Madrid is a tough and grinding course. It can be tough to try to race a solid line here considering the barriers and the tight corners and hairpins. While the Aventador is fast and powerful, it is not exactly a handling gem. You may need to do some tuning to get this Italian beast to handle as good as its horsepower and speed. You can slap on some Racing Hard tires to help in the handling department, though.

Prize:
GOLD: 68,900 Cr.
SILVER: 44,800 Cr.
BRONZE: 34,400 Cr.

Ferrari 458 Challenge (IA).

Track: Autodromo Nazionale Monza
Laps: 4

PP: 590 or less
Tires: Racing Hard or Less
Car(s): 2009 Ferrari 458 Italia

Autodromo Nazionale Monza is one of the world's oldest race tracks, first raced in the 1920s. Forza Ferrari! You will be racing the 458 Italia around today's Monza. Something to keep in mind is how fast this track is despite some very decisive corners. The one thing you need to be careful of is to make sure you avoid cutting the chicanes and some of the other corners.

Prize:
GOLD: 64,700 Cr.
SILVER: 42,000 Cr.
BRONZE: 32,300 Cr.

GT-R Maestros (IA).

Track: Nürburgring Nordschleife
Laps: 1

PP: 650
Tires: Racing Hard or Less
Car(s): ???? Nissan GT-R R35 Touring Car, 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition, 2009 Nissan GT-R SpecV, 2007 Nissan GT-R, 2013 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 N24 Schulze Motorsport, 2013 GT-R NISMO GT3, 2013 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 Base Model, 2013 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 15th Anniv., 2012 Nissan GT-R N24 GT Academy, 2011 Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport, ???? Nissan GT-R Concept LM Race Car, 2007 GT-R Black Mask, 2005 Nissan GT-R Proto, 2001 Nissan GT-R Concept (Tokyo Motor Show 2001)

The last of the One-Make Races takes you on a romp around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. You can use any of the Nissan GT-R/Skyline models that are eligible for entry here, but it is recommended you get the Nissan GT-R R35 Touring Car, since that is what the opposition will mostly use. The GT-R Touring Car handles the Nürburgring Nordschleife very well. You may be rather surprised how well it is able to tackle the many corners and tricky sections of this famed German automotive battleground. Do your best to try to pass all of the other cars and leave the Nordschleife with a One-Make Race win.

Prize:
GOLD: 61,300 Cr.
SILVER: 39,800 Cr.
BRONZE: 30,600 Cr.

That's all! Good luck to you in all of these races!
